I am often asked about my favorite machine quilting resources, the products I use for my machine quilting. Below you will find a list of a few of my favorite things. Check out my online store for more machine quilting resources and products.
Although I use a lot of different kinds of threads, the ones that I use the most are So Fine! (by Superior threads) and Aurifil 50wt cotton. The colors that I use the most are light yellow, light grey, pink, and green.
I love everything about Quilter’s Dream Batting, from the people in the company to the products that they sell. I have been using them since I started quilting 10 years ago! Most of the time I use their Poly Select batting, which is a low-loft polyester batting. I love how it resists creasing and has a nice feel to it. Sometimes, I will even use two layers to give my quilts a little more poof. I have also used their wool, cotton and puff batting and have not been disappointed in the least!
I do all on my quilting on my Handi Quilter Avante which I have had for several years. I am not only a happy owner, I am also a dealer for Handi Quilter. If you’d like more information about the machine, feel free to email me at email@example.com
Other machine quilting notions that I rely on include:
The Supreme Slider
Machingers These grippy gloves allow me to have more control of the quilt sandwich when quilting on my home sewing machine.
Design A Line Stencils: these stencils allow me to quickly mark grids and blocks for easy quilting.
Straight Ruler: I use this on my longarm for all my straight line quilting, I absolutley love it!
Pounce Pad: I love using this for marking my stencils. I have one in white and blue (to use on white fabrics)
When it comes to learning online, my hands-down favorite is Craftsy! Craftsy has several free classes available as well as paid machine quilting classes. What I love most about them is their platform. Instructors (such as myself) log in constantly to answer questions, encourage students, and interact on a personal level. But the biggest perk? The classes are 100% satisfaction guaranteed and you keep them forever.
I have several classes on Craftsy, click on the image to learn more about them!
I love to write books about quilting as much as I like to actually quilt. My most recent books include:
Free-Motion Quilting with Angela Walters
I know that there are many, many other resources available to machine quilters. This is not meant to be comprehensive list, it’s just a few of the things that I like. I hope it helps!
