The Midnight Quilt Show
Oh my goodness, you all!!! I am beyond excited to share the first episode of The Midnight Quilt Show .
But first, can I tell you a story?
One regular, ordinary day, I was at work at my quilt shop (one of my favorite places to be!) when I got a call from Craftsy. That wasn’t unusual, having filmed 6 classes and several short YouTube videos for them, we tend to talk often. Except this time, they had a proposition for me.
“Would you like to host a YouTube channel for us,” they asked. “Something that is part entertainment, part education,” they explained. “We really want to showcase your personality,” they continued.
I am not going to lie and try to pretend that I was super cool…..I did the happy dance right there while on the phone. After somewhat calmly agreeing to this new venture, I ran out of my office and told everyone in the building (and some beyond) the exciting news.
Fast forward through several months of designing, frantic sewing and long days of filming. Now I finally get to share the final result with you.
Filming the episodes was fun and scary at the same time. It’s fun to get my makeup done and work with an awesome crew.
I got to be myself and enjoy having a silly time, but I will admit that it’s a little nerve-wracking. You see, when I teach classes, I try to make it about you. How great you can be great at machine quilting. What you can do to be successful.
But this project is about you and me. A free quilt pattern you can make and me trying to entertain you by being myself……..a side of me that doesn’t necessarily come out through my writing or filmed classes. (Although, if you have ever taken a class from me in real life, you definitely know how silly I can be.) It’s the most vulnerable I have been since I have started my business.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is that I hope that you love the episodes as much as I have loved making them!
The first episode is a pattern that shows you how to make a quilt that takes a basic star quilt block and gives it a different layout for a fun new look.
To watch the first episode, check out the video here:
To get the free pattern visit Craftsy’s website.
And because I feel like celebrating, how about a giveaway? The beautiful fabric that I used for the Star quilt is called Nature Walk by Tamara Kate. One lucky winner will get a bundle of fat quarters from the collection:
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and I will pick a winner on Dec 14th. The winner will be announced on my Facebook page and notified via email.
Spread the Word
No pressure or anything, but if the first 7 episodes go over well, Craftsy will let me film a second season. So if you like the show, subscribe and tell your friends!
Thanks so much for joining me on the fun, crazy, quilting journey!
