Have you heard of the Mighty Lucky Club? Every month you get a quilting challenge from an instructor that focuses on a different aspect of the quilting process. It’s like a personal trainer for your quilting! Except that you aren’t sore after you are finished. If you have already joined, then you have already had five fun challenges, including making a quilt from a picture and building blocks with effective contrast….just to name a couple.
Why am I telling you this? Well, this month just so happens to be my month!
When asked to join the roster of amazing instructors, I quickly agreed. All I had to do was decide what I wanted to teach. At first I thought that hand appliqué would be fun……just kidding! Of course my challenge would be about machine quilting. I wanted it to be fun and interesting so I went with “Say Something with Free-Motion Quilting”.
Quilting with words is a great way to add details to the quilt and can also hint at the inspiration behind the pattern. It’s something I do often, whether it’s a huge thread painted word, or song lyrics. It just makes the quilting process so fun!
If you are already enrolled, I can’t wait to hear what you think about it! I also hope you will post a picture of what you end up doing with your challenge, tagging the picture with #mightylucky It’s been so fun to see everyone’s work and variations up to this point, I can’t wait to see what you say with your quilting.
If you aren’t subscribed, no worries! You can buy the individual month (or enroll for the rest of the year) and be mighty lucky too!
I’ll also be saying something about quilting on the Crafty Planner podcast on Wednesday, June 1st. It was such a fun conversation, we talked about everything from the business of quilting to the challenge itself. Check it out once it’s live!
