Whew!!!! After a fantastic, busy trip to Portland, I am home and gearing up for quilt market…..I can’t believe that it’s coming up already! Today, I finally get to share pictures of a couple of quilts that I quilted for my friend, Lindsay’s, new book “Modern Bee“
One of the quilts is Lindsay’s, called Baseball Curve.
The quilting for this quilt was all about texture! I alternated between wavy lines and a design that combined swirls and paisleys. Ribbon Candy separates them in the white part of the quilt.
The second quilt, Triple Stars, was put together by Elena Roscoe and was completely different from the first.
Since the blocks are such a strong part of the quilt, I used the quilting to echo the blocks. This provides contrast to the background and really helps them stand out.
I especially love the itty bitty triangles in the middle of the blocks….
When I am quilting little blocks, like these, I love to use continuous curve quilting designs. (Continuous curve designs consists of curved lines that go from point to point) Not only are they quick, but they always bring you back to the starting point. That means that you are able to quilt a block and then move onto the next one, without starting and stopping!
I often joke that my customer’s quilts are like foster children. They come into my house for a little bit, I shower them with love and then return them to their parents. Getting to see my “babies” in a book, is so fun!
Lindsay happens to be hosting a blog tour about the book, and she graciously allowed me to giveaway a free copy. To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post saying hi!
We’ll choose one random winner to receive a hard copy of the book! If winner lives outside the U.S., they’ll receive a copy of the e-book. Giveaway ends October, 18, 2013. Good luck!
I also owe two lucky readers a prize……DaisyandJack is the winner of the book, First Steps to Free-Motion Quilting and Diane Torres is the winner of the “Don’t Box Me In” quilt kit. Check your emails for information!
Here’s hoping that there is happy quilting in your future!!
