Before I even started quilting it, I knew that I wanted to use the quilting to connect the blocks and create a secondary design. The geometric style of the blocks were just calling to me!
In between the blocks, I quilted a geometric design that “hooked” the blocks together. In the background I used a pebble design that contrasted with the straight line quilting and really helped the designs pop.
When it came to the blocks, I quilted a few different designs. I used the plume feather design in this block:
It’s kind of hard to see, but in this block, I echoed the sides of the block and quilted a swirl hook:
In this one, I quilted pointy leaves:
What can I say!! I really like changing things up! Switching between designs in the blocks makes the quilting process more fun (at least it does to me). But, I still want the quilting to pull all the blocks together, so I quilted the centers of the blocks the same way. Doing that allows me to have my fun, without overwhelming the blocks with the quilting!
Well, it’s that time of year again….you know, the crazy-before-quilt-market-scramble…….I better get back to work!
