The quilting industry is the best industry to be a part of. Not only have I been able to make a business doing what I love, I have made a lot of friends as well! I met Alison Glass at Quilt Market last year when we were both pitching fabric lines. We became fast friends, which was easy to do since she is so darn sweet!! This market, her debut line with Andover, Lucky Penny, came out. I was thrilled when she asked me to quilt one of her quilts featuring her new fabric.
I am sure that you can tell that the photography is not my doing. If I had taken the picture, the quilt would have been laid on the floor, cropped close so you couldn’t see the mess around it. Alison was sweet enough to take these pictures and let me use them. If she ever gets tired of fabric design, I think that she has a career in photography to fall back on!!
Her line, Lucky Penny, is gorgeous. I especially love the large scale print and I really wanted my quilting to compliment it. So I did what I usually do, I had a lot of fun with it!!
I quilted around some of the motifs in the print and filled in the rest with a bunch of fun quilting designs. Since the thread blends in, I knew that it wouldn’t overwhelm the quilt.
And I love that you can really see the quilting detail on the back.
I hope you have a very happy weekend!!!!
Happy Quilting
