This time last year, I had the opportunity to quilt 3 quilts in We Love Color. One of them just so happened to land on the cover of the book!
Jacquie made this gorgeous quilt and I was so excited to quilt it for her! When we were discussing the quilting ideas, she suggested straight lines in the blocks and organic, softer designs in the background……once she said that, I knew that it was perfect!
I am not going to lie, it was a little tricky with all the thread colors and there were plenty of starts and stops…..but it was sooooo worth it.
I really like how the straight lines and circles complement each other so well!
The back is just as striking as the front!
And one more picture of the front, I love the colors that Jacquie picked out. I would have never thought to put them together, but they work!
Quilting on solid fabrics is the best. You don’t have to turn the quilt over to see all the quilting! When I quilt any quilts, especially ones made with solid fabrics, I like to use a thread that blends into the quilt top. I love being able to see the texture of the quilting. If I were to use a contrasting thread, I would have lost the texture. For this quilt, I used Superior So Fine Thread on the top and Superior Omni thread on the bottom.
I am just imaging all the different color options for this quilt….maybe one in shades of gray? Or monochromatic? The possibilities are endless!!
