Jacquie gave a trunk show at the Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild last night and it was a fun, fun time! It was great to see all the quilts in her book, Quilting Modern, as well as the ones that I quilted for her. As she was showing the quilts, I realized that I hadn’t blogged about the Supernova quilt.
This quilt is one of my very favorite quilts and will be the first quilt I make from her book. Please forgive the picture quality, I quilted these before I got my new camera!
The inspiration for this quilt is a exploding supernova with “bits” flying off of the explosion. The quilting was directly inspired by the inspiration….how’s that for a tongue twister!!
The lines radiate from the center, straight as can be. But, outside the explosion, the lines become wavy and “energetic”. I quilted pebbles in between the wavy lines to add extra detail to the quilting.
It’s crazy to think that I quilted this quilt almost 2 years ago! But I still love it as much now as I did then!
And, of course, the back needs to be shown!
Happy Quilting!
